The effort to narrow a projected long-term funding shortfall of the California State Teachers'
Retirement System (CalSTRS) was the focus of a CalSTRS presentation at a recent meeting of the
Public Employee Post-Employment Benefits Commission.
The CalSTRS panel, which included Chief Executive Officer Jack Ehnes and Teachers' Retirement Board
Vice Chair Jerilyn Harris, made the presentation at the July 27 meeting in La Jolla.
The presentation included actuarial information, historical investment performance data and member profiles.
The Public Employee Post Employment Benefits Commission was established to propose ways to address
unfunded post-employment benefits. The commission must send a report to the Governor
and the Legislature by January 1, 2008.
