The State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS) now offers two choices for the submission of the C-118: the mail option or the FAX option. STRS strongly supports the use of the FAX option for submitting the C-118.
Effective immediately, STRS will accept, by FAX, the C-118 for counties who remit contributions by Direct Deposit or Wire. When the FAX option is chosen, it is not necessary to follow up the FAX with a mailed original. For those employers on a quadra-weekly schedule, please submit for each report month one C-118 per deposit, displaying clearly the month or pay period of the report.
The timeline relative to the submission of the C-118 and related contributions (5th and 15th working day) remains unchanged, as does the penalty for late submission, in accordance with Education Code Section 23002.
The C-118 forms will no longer be produced in triplicate. When the current inventory is exhausted, new supplies will be produced in pads of single sheets. STRS encourages employers to reproduce C-118 forms locally for their own convenience.
